The land for Bassett Park was deeded to the city in 1956 by Bassaw Builders, Inc. as their park dedication contribution for the Bassett's First Addition plat. Very needed upgrades were made to the park in 1996 paid for by funding from the 1994 Park Bond Referendum. The park received improved landscaping, a new basketball court and playground at that time. In 2022, the basketball court was resurfaced as part of the 2021 Park Bond Referendum.
